As weddings are very often planned a year or more ahead of time, wedding trends tend to have a little bit more longevity than their fast fashion counterparts. So many of the big 2017 trends are set to remain in vogue until late 2018, and even early 2019 in some cases. Here are our top 4 picks of the hottest wedding trends of 2017:
- Rose gold / copper / pewter – metallics are such a versatile trend making for striking table wear and ornamentation. A wonderful complement to floral arrangements, this trend can give a sleek modern look or a vintage twist depending on the hue used.
- Greenery – greenery is the Pantone colour of 2017 and it’s a great alternative to flowers. Used in wreaths, garlands and even the bridal bouquet, foliage lends a touch of whimsy to your wedding theme.
- Unique / unexpected venues – there’s now much more of an emphasis on what the venue means to the couple. The trend is moving away from traditional barns and churches, and more towards lochside, cliff top, coves and even back garden weddings.
- Cheese ‘cakes’ – a selection of cheeses with chutneys and jams is the new savoury replacement for the traditional, multi-tiered wedding cake. Lots of suppliers are now rising to meet this, with even some high street stores offering their own versions too.
